There are over 60 breweries in Atlanta and the surrounding areas. The craft beer exploding in Georgia and Atlanta is the epicenter. This has been fueled by an update to Georgia’s antiquated liquor laws. Governor Nathan Deal on September 1st 2017 signed Senate Bill 85 into law allowing breweries and distilleries to sell directly to consumers. Breweries can sell up 3,000 barrels of their beer directly to consumers each year. Local distilleries can sell up to 300 barrels per year as well directly to consumers. Breweries will also no longer be required to offer paid tours of their facilities that come with tastings of their product.
As a result of the changes new breweries have been sprouting up along the Atlanta Beltline Trail. Some of these new breweries along the beltline include the Second Shelf, California’s Stone Brewings, Monday Night Beer, Wild Heaven Beer and New Realm Brewing so far.
